Hainan Tourism Hotel Association proposes: Let hotels become temporary shelters for disaster-stricken residents
Date: 2024-09-09
On September 7, 2024, in Haikou, the super typhoon "Makar" landed and caused serious impacts after passing through.
The super typhoon "Makar" ravaged Hainan, bringing great impact to the production and life of the people on the whole island, especially Haikou and Wenchang. Some hotel facilities and equipment were damaged, some residential areas were cut off from water and electricity, and the basic living needs of many people were difficult to meet. In order to help everyone return to normal life faster, the Hainan Provincial Tourism Hotel Industry Association issued an initiative to hotel colleagues across the province on its official WeChat public account on the evening of September 7, hoping that hotels operating normally can provide the most preferential accommodation and catering services for residents who are severely affected, and encourage hotels to provide free drinking water and food and other supplies for citizens and tourists who have difficulties in life.
The Hainan Provincial Tourism Hotel Industry Association stated in "A Letter to Hotel Colleagues in the Province" that the super typhoon "Makar" ravaged Hainan. At this special moment, every small act of kindness can gather into a huge force to help everyone return to normal life faster.
The association advocated that hotel colleagues across the province actively respond and take the initiative. For residents severely affected by the disaster, the association calls on all hotels that have electricity, water, and gas and are operating normally to provide them with the most favorable accommodation and catering services. Let the hotel become a temporary safe haven for the affected residents, so that they can feel the warmth of home in difficult times.
Secondly, provide free supplies to the best of their ability. For citizens and tourists with difficulties in life, the association encourages hotels to provide free drinking water, food and other supplies, and provide free charging areas to ensure that their basic living needs are met.
At the same time, the association also advocates that hotel colleagues should ensure that the quality of service for guests staying in the hotel is not discounted while providing help, so that the affected people can feel their professionalism and enthusiasm while getting help.
The association said, "Disasters are only temporary, but our unity and love are eternal. Let us take action to send warmth to citizens and tourists in need. Finally, let us cheer for Hainan together and praise everyone who has made efforts in post-disaster reconstruction! Let us interpret the spirit of "one side is in trouble, all sides support" with practical actions, work together, and overcome this difficulty as soon as possible."
